Bhubaneswar: The people of future Smart City Bhubaneswar paid tribute to the Legendary Biju Patnaik at Raahgiri Day, on Sunday.
Raahgiri is getting momentum at Bhubaneswar, the temple city of Odisha. Over fifty thousand people took part in the Raahgiri Day on 06 March, which seems to be the largest participation in the past 8 weeks. OdishaLIVE, the first web channel network of Odisha, organised the connect event at Raahgiri, as a part of its series of events commemorating Birth Centenary of the legend. Hundreds of commoners from youth to senior citizen and from different walks of life throng at OdishaLIVE Signature Campaign and Painting Exhibition and paid homage to Biju Babu.
On the occasion, Bhubaneswar MP Dr. Prasanna Kumar Patsani, Minister Devi Prasad Mishra, MLA Sashibhusan Behera, Priyadarshi Mishra, Bijay Kumar Mohanty, veteran artist Dr. Dinanath Pathy, Film-maker Biren Das, social activist Jagadananda, Vice Chancellor of Utkal Cultural University Prof. Debendranath Jena, senior journalist Dilip Mishra, IT expert Ayaskant Mohanty, Dy. Mayor K. Shanti visited the special stall and reminisced Biju Babu by signing along with the common masses.
The illustration on Biju Babu riding a cycle printed on the stage attracted the youth population. Likewise people, especially the youth, standing next to the large full frame picture of Biju Patnaik and taking photographs was an amusing sight. Even the children were seen writing quotes on the wall.
The different paintings of Biju Patnaik’s towering personality, created by veteran artist Baladev Maharatha for OdishaLIVE, were displayed at the site. It made a linkage between Biju Babu and the public – both old and new generations.
